Most of our nurses prefer to drive to each of their assignments except for Hawaii. Remember the cost of a rental affects your pay, so it will come out of your salary some way.

  2. PPRTravelNursing says:

Thanks for your interest. Most facilities do require more than 1 year of experience to be considered as a traveler. The reason being is that the expect the traveler to come in and hit the floor running with little orientation.

  3. PPRTravelNursing says:

    You are correct, thank you

  4. PPRTravelNursing says:

Oh no, we have nurses fresh out of school at 22 years of age to more seasoned RN’s traveling with their retired spouse. It is so versatile!

I drove to all my assignments; but it’s my understanding that many companies will pay part of your airfare, and some even offer a rented car. Do your homework. Contact many companies and compare packages.

Actually, sistajme, there is a law that prevents employers from discriminating against you for any job for which you are qualified and which you are mentally and physically capable of doing based on your age.

  11. FriedDaisy says:

You’ve got to have at least one year’s experience in a hospital before you can travel as a nurse. I was 38 when I took my first travel nursing job. I’ve done it a total of 4 times and absolutely loved it– 3 times out of the 4.
